Valentine's. Is it just a capitalistic holiday, or something more? If you truly love someone, you show them that every day. But why not make it a little bit more special? I made this surprise breakfast last week for my mum since it was her birthday, and I thought it would make a nice pre-Valentine's post.
I made heart shaped toast with egg and mini heart shaped fluffy american pancakes. Here are a few steps:
1 + 1/4 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 + 1/4 teaspoons white sugar
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 tablespoon butter (melted)
For the heart shape use something like this,
or just bake them normally and cut after.
1. In a large bowl mix together flour, salt, baking powder and sugar.
In another, small bowl beat together egg, milk and vanilla extract.
Stir milk, egg and extract into flour mixture.
Mix in the butter and leave aside for 1 hour.
2. Heat a lightly oiled griddle.
Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using
approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake.
Brown on both sides and serve hot.
Cut the inside of bread into a heart.
Decorate plates with ketchup.
Don't forget to check the below so your bred doesn't burn.
Set the table.
Enjoy your meal!
